After promoting a song before listening to it, then I got to play the song few days later and I almost cried, I vowed not to try it again for the Artiste sake and for my brand sake..

I’ve had several experience with some music Artiste where they just bring the song directly from the studio to me for promotion, and then when I listen to it I don’t even know where to start the talk from, cos some of the songs needs to be reproduced.

Dear Music Artiste..

1. Your Music Coach
2. Your Father in the Lord
3. A Representative of your song target audience

The importance of sending your songs to this persons listed above cannot be overemphasized. They will see things that you or your producer may not be seeing.

1. Your Music Coach

He is going to judge the song from his knowledge point of view, pointing the song towards excellence based on what he knows. He will check if the instruments and BGVs are in good harmony, etc.

2. Your Father in the Lord

Your Father in the Lord will judge the lyrics of the song and it’s credibility, does the song lyrics have a message. Is the song lyrics scriptural, Is the sound backed up by the anointing, etc..

3. A Representative of your song target audience

This is someone that represents the people that will be listening to your song when released. Let’s look at the song as a product, this person is the final consumer of the product. So he listens to the song and tell you how he feels about the song, if it is a blessing to him or it’s just normal. If there is something different about the song from other songs.

With guides and opinions from these 3 persons, your song should come out good and ready for promotion.

You really don’t need everybody’s opinion on your song, else it will loose it’s taste, there is an adage that says “too many hands spoils the soup”..

Don’t be in a hurry to release a bad song that will not even last in people’s head a day. Don’t go and fix/publicize release date when the song is not ready to go public..
