“Perfect Love Casts Out Fear”
Fear is very real and is something many Christians struggle with. Fear of the future, fear of unanswered prayers, fear of not finding purpose, fear of not pleasing God. These are all valid fears.
Fear can go beyond normal day to day fear and graduate to a crippling, all consuming anxiety. This can hinder daily activities as well as interaction with others.
What does the bible say about fear? According to Bible Scholars, there are 365 “fear not’s” in the bible, one for each day of the year. This reminds us to have faith in an all knowing and all powerful Godall
I want you to remember being little and being scared of the dark. Remember that if you were sitting in your fathers laps in the dark, you won’t be afraid anymore. This is what God wants us to do. He wants up to snuggle up to him and watch all our fears melt away. The Bible says in Romans 8:15: For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” This tells us that God’s spirit in us is one of freedom. This also tells us that fear enslaves us. We have to realize that anytime fear comes knocking we can always call on Abba and He’ll soothe our fears away. He is a good good father.
When we remember that there a God who loved us who himself is love we know that he won’t let anything touch us. We know that he is with us in the midst of the storm.
1 John 4:18 says: There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.once we are perfected in the Love of Jesus fear becomes foreign to us.
Foreign you ask? Yes! Foreign.
Fear that used to be second nature can become a long forgotten habit. What really do we have to fear when we have an all-powerful and gracious loving father?
Ruminate on these Christian Quotes on fear-
“Fear is born of Satan, and if we would only take time to think a moment we would see that everything Satan says is founded upon a falsehood.” ~ A. B. Simpson
“Faith, which is trust, and fear are opposite poles. If a man has the one, he can scarcely have the other in vigorous operation. He that has his trust set upon God does not need to dread anything except the weakening or the paralyzing of that trust.” ~ Alexander MacLaren
“Faith activates God – Fear activates the Enemy.” ~ Joel Osteen
If you find yourself experiencing crippling fear I’ll advise you to stand on God’s word and pray against it. If however it persists I advise that you share with someone or seek professional help while continuing to stand on the word of God.
Always remember that God loves you and He hasn’t given you the spirit of fear!
